    The Firefighter's Fund was set up to assist the Firefighter's and their immediate families.  From time to time the Firefighter's Fund has been needed to assist Firefighters.  Since the Okolona Fire Department is a taxed based department, we are unable to spend money in the budget for other things other then day to day fire protection and operations. Examples what the Firefighters fund has done: 

    While off duty, a Volunteer Firefighter was injured and was unable to return to work.  Due to the lack of quality medical insurance provided by the Firefighters employer, he was behind on bills.  Unanimously, the Firefighter's Fund held a general meeting and with no opposition, offer to assist in paying some of the bills.

    Not only does the Firefighter's Fund assist in a time of need, but they also assist on Team Building with the guys and gals and their families.  Things such as assisting in Christmas Banquets & Halloween parties for the firefighter's kids.
